Synopsis:<\/strong><\/p>\n Persian Leopard, the world’s largest leopard sub-species;<\/strong><\/p>\n Persian leopard, scientifically known as “Panthera pardus saxicolor” is the world’s largest leopard sub-species that resides in the west of the Asian continent.<\/p>\n Due to the serious outnumbering of this species in the past 30 years, Persian leopard is in the red list of IUCN as a seriously endangered species.<\/p>\n There is no comprehensive data available regarding the number of Persian leopards in the nature, but estimate shows a mere 500 to 800 leopards possibly out there.<\/p>\n In order to save this meritorious species from extinction, the first step to take would be to study and understand its wildlife habits and nature. For this reason, Mohammad S. Farhadinia, a Persian leopard lover and sympathiser, decides to choose Telemetry of the Persian Leopard as the subject for his thesis so that to help this cause.<\/p>\n Mohammad<\/strong> and Oxford university’s determination for commencing a gigantic study;<\/strong><\/p>\n Mohammad S. Farhadinia, a PhD student of zoology in Oxford decides to study the Persian leopard as the subject for his thesis. After his idea’s approval for studying the conditions of the Persian leopard, Oxford university and Panthera institution decide to help this project and by handing over 5 live catch traps and 6 GPS equipped collars with satellite pinpointing ability to its researcher. Being lightweight, these collars are no barrier for the animal in hunting and for breathing and will detach automatically from its neck after a year.
