{"id":1282,"date":"2016-03-28T21:58:25","date_gmt":"2016-03-28T21:58:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wildlifepictures.ir\/?p=1282&#038;lang=en"},"modified":"2025-10-16T16:08:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T12:38:13","slug":"kings-of-the-rocks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wildlifepictures.ir\/en\/kings-of-the-rocks\/","title":{"rendered":"Wild Goats, The kings of the rocks!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>&#8220;The wild goats are the undisputed rulers of the cliffs, but as soon as they step onto the plains, they become easy prey for the Iranian cheetah&#8230;&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The documentary film <strong>&#8220;Tanhavash&#8221;<\/strong> is the latest production of the Wildlife Pictures Institute, produced in 2015.<\/p>\n\n<p>The film\u2019s synopsis reads:<\/p>\n\n<p>The Asiatic cheetah is a unique subspecies of the African cheetah that has become extinct throughout Asia except in Iran, where it is known as the <strong>Iranian Cheetah<\/strong>. Today, fewer than a hundred individuals remain in the wild, and the species faces a severe risk of extinction.<\/p>\n\n<p>Since 2009, in collaboration with the <strong>Asiatic Cheetah Project<\/strong>, the <strong>Iranian Cheetah Society<\/strong>, and the <strong>Plan for the Land Association<\/strong>, an extensive research program began to estimate the population of the Asiatic cheetah in <strong>Kavir National Park<\/strong> \u2014 the largest national park in Iran. Despite great efforts and the installation of dozens of camera traps, only one image of a male cheetah was recorded.<\/p>\n\n<p>For me, as a wildlife filmmaker, this was not good news. Therefore, I decided to dedicate all my efforts to proving the presence of more cheetahs across the vast expanse of Iran\u2019s largest national park.<\/p>\n\n<p>This search lasted six years, across a land as vast as Switzerland \u2014 and eventually led to an astonishing discovery\u2026<\/p>\n\n<p>For more information about this film, visit <a
