After nearly six years of studying Kavir National Park, Iran’s largest national park, wildlife filmmaker Fathollah Amiri and cheetah researcher Dr. Bagher Nezami set out to determine the true number of Asiatic cheetahs remaining in Iran, and therefore in the world.
Through an in-depth examination of Iran’s cheetah habitats, they uncover important connections between different ecosystems and cheetah populations. The documentary investigates the threats and challenges these cats face and, grounded in precise scientific research, follows the team’s efforts to delay the extinction of this critically endangered species.
The project was carried out in collaboration with the Asiatic Cheetah Conservation Project, the Iranian Cheetah Society (ICS), the Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation, and with the support of Iran’s Department of Environment.
