Trailer Released for the Documentary “Life in Eclipse”

The documentary film “Life in Eclipse”, produced in 2009, is a research-based work by the Wildlife Pictures Institute, directed by Fathollah Amiri. It explores the lives of four species of insectivorous bats in Iran: Greater Mouse-tailed Bat, Lesser Mouse-tailed Bat, Three-toothed Leaf-nosed Bat, and Long-winged Bat. All these species inhabit the Bat Cave of Dehloran in southwestern Iran.

This documentary showcases unique behaviors from the mysterious world of bats, including the dance of the Long-winged Bat, mating and polygamy, and the use of ultrasonic waves for communication. The film also introduces other cave-dwelling creatures, such as large-bodied spiders and a 50-centimeter spider, known as the largest recorded spider in the world.

This work is the result of three years of research and challenging cinematography under harsh and inaccessible conditions, revealing glimpses of some of Iran’s most hidden ecosystems.
