The documentary film “Tanhavash”, produced by the Wildlife Pictures Institute, won the Best Foreign Documentary Award at the New York Wildlife Conservation Film Festival (WCFF).
At this prestigious event, held from October 15 to 24 in New York City, the documentary “Tanhavash” directed by Fathollah Amiri was recognized among the top international documentaries. Majid Mohammaddoost, the film’s editor and Director of International Affairs at the Wildlife Pictures Institute, received the award on behalf of the production team.
Synopsis:
The Asiatic cheetah is a distinct subspecies of the African cheetah that has vanished from all parts of Asia except Iran — where it is known as the Iranian Cheetah. Today, only a small number of these valuable animals remain in the wild, and their survival is under serious threat.
The film, produced by IRIB Semnan Center and commissioned by the Provincial TV Network Center, explores the life of the Asiatic cheetah in Kavir National Park — Iran’s largest national park. “Tanhavash” has previously received several national and international awards.
