The documentary film “Ranger and Leopard”, co-directed by Fathollah Amiri and Nima Asgari, won the trophy and first prize in the “Human and Nature” category at the prestigious Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival in the United States — marking its first international appearance.
This 52-minute documentary, produced by the IRIB Jame Jam Channel, was selected from among more than 600 submitted films and received the top award in the Human and Nature category.
The Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival is one of the most prestigious international events dedicated to nature and wildlife documentaries. It is held biennially in the state of Wyoming, USA, near Grand Teton National Park.
This edition of the festival, held from September 24 to 29 (Mehr 2–7), featured outstanding productions from major networks such as Planet Earth II, ZDF, France Télévisions, Discovery, BBC Worldwide, National Geographic, Terra Mater, NatGeo Wild, WWF-UK, and Netflix.
This was the first time a film from Iran had been selected for this prestigious global festival — and it succeeded in winning the top award in its very first participation.
The documentary “Ranger and Leopard” tells the story of Mohammadreza Helvani, a dedicated ranger in the Abbasabad Nain Wildlife Refuge in Isfahan Province, whose relentless efforts led to the first-ever photographic evidence of a Persian leopard in the region.
The film was also screened on October 3, 2017 at the University of Texas at Dallas, in the McDermott Library Auditorium, where it received an enthusiastic response from Iranian students.
